Nobel Peace Prize appeal targets children of Gaza

An appeal has been launched to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the children of Gaza, a movement supported by various Italian figures. The initiative, promoted by Professor Eugenio Mazzarella and the newspaper Avvenire, seeks to use the award as a symbolic gesture to highlight the suffering of innocent children caught in conflict.

Marco Nuzzo, a local councilor and PD secretary from Casarano, has publicly joined the call. Nuzzo emphasized the responsibility of local institutions to speak out against fundamental rights violations, describing the gesture as a way to give a voice to those who can no longer speak.

Writer Giovanni Suraci, coordinator of the ‘Poetry for Peace’ national competition, also expressed strong support. He characterized the proposal as a cry to the human conscience, aiming to put a face to the victims of war. The movement references documentation from UNICEF regarding the impact of war on childhood in Gaza, including displacement, malnutrition, and psychological trauma.
