Nobel Peace Prize appeals issued for Lampedusa and Gaza children

Various cultural and academic figures have issued appeals for the Nobel Peace Prize to be awarded to symbols of humanitarian suffering and resilience.

In Italy, actor Gianfranco Jannuzzo called for the prize to be awarded to Lampedusa, highlighting the island's role in welcoming migrants and its commitment to the right to life. During an event in Comitini, Jannuzzo emphasized the dignity of all humans regardless of diversity. Local officials noted that the town has hosted refugee families for over a decade.

Separately, Eugenio Mazzarella, a professor at the University of Naples Federico II, proposed awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to the children of Gaza. The proposal aims to highlight the ongoing suffering of children due to malnutrition and disease. Mazzarella framed the suggestion as a universal symbol for all children affected by war, including those in Israel, Ukraine, Russia, Iran, and Sudan, asserting that the suffering of children should transcend political and military calculations.
