Nobel Peace Prize campaign for Gaza children gains 10,000 signatures
A mobilization campaign to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the children of Gaza has surpassed 10,000 signatures. Launched by Professor Eugenio Mazzarella in the newspaper Avvenire, the initiative has garnered support from a diverse group, including mayors, lawyers, ambassadors, and organizations such as Neve Shalom-Wahat al Salam.
The campaign has drawn varied responses from the Italian political landscape. Members of the center-left, including Elly Schlein of the Democratic Party, Pier Luigi Bersani, and representatives from Avs, have supported the move to highlight the ongoing suffering and lack of essential resources in Gaza.
From the center-right, Maurizio Lupi has expressed a more cautious stance, suggesting that the prize should be awarded to children victims of all global conflicts—including those in Ukraine, Russia, Nigeria, and Israel—to avoid any perceived political instrumentalization.
