Nobel Prize announcements to begin October 5

The announcement of the 2026 Nobel Prizes is scheduled to begin on October 5. Winners will be revealed across six categories: Physiology or Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Peace, and Economic Sciences.

The scientific prizes will be announced first, with Physiology or Medicine on October 5, Physics on October 6, and Chemistry on October 7. Following these, the remaining categories will be announced through October 12. Each laureate will receive a Nobel medal, a diploma, and a monetary award.

To mark the 125th anniversary of the Nobel Prize, the Nobel Foundation has increased the prize money to 12 million Swedish krona per award, up from 11 million Swedish krona in 2025. Hanna Steirne, Executive Director of the Nobel Foundation, stated that this increase aims to maintain the long-term financial value of the award.
