Nobel Prize prize money increases as Spaldin emerges as potential laureate
The Nobel Prize award amounts have been increased for the upcoming announcements. The Nobel Foundation has raised the prize money to 12 million Swedish kronor (approximately 1.06 million euros) per award, up from 11 million Swedish kronor last year.
In anticipation of the announcements in Stockholm, speculation regarding potential winners is increasing. Nicola Spaldin, a professor at ETH Zürich, has been identified by the data firm Clarivate as a potential Nobel Prize candidate in the field of physics. Her research focuses on magnetoelectric multiferroics, materials that can be influenced by both magnetic and electric fields, which hold potential for energy-efficient data storage and high-precision sensors.
Clarivate’s list of potential laureates is based on citation impact within the scientific community. Historically, approximately 19 percent of individuals included on Clarivate’s Citation Laureates list have gone on to win a Nobel Prize.
