Nobian and Air Products sign renewable hydrogen deal
Nobian and Air Products have entered into a long-term agreement for the offtake of renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO)-compliant hydrogen. The hydrogen is produced at Nobian’s Rotterdam facility in the Netherlands using renewable electricity through its chlor-alkali electrolysis operations.
Nobian’s Rotterdam site is recognized as Europe’s largest RFNBO-certified hydrogen plant, with an annual production capacity exceeding 14,000 tonnes. In 2025, the facility became the first large-scale European renewable hydrogen producer to receive ISCC EU certification for RFNBO.
Under the terms of the deal, Air Products will utilize its established distribution network to provide certified hydrogen to industrial customers and fuel suppliers. This partnership aims to help users meet European Union Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) requirements and supports the development of Rotterdam as a major hydrogen hub.
