Nobres vice-mayor released after bail payment following arrest

Sérgio Shoji Takeuti, the 71-year-old vice-mayor of Nobres, has been released on provisional liberty after paying a R$ 10,000 bail. The decision was made by Judge Cássio Leite de Barros Netto following a custody hearing.

Takeuti was arrested after being found at a local distributor with a loaded .38 caliber revolver and 27 rounds of ammunition. Police responded to reports of an armed man causing fear among customers. According to official reports, the vice-mayor appeared intoxicated, exhibiting slurred speech and agitated behavior.

During his arrest and transport to the police station, Takeuti allegedly threatened the responding officers. The police report states he claimed he would call members of the Comando Vermelho criminal faction to have the officers killed, suggesting he could hire a “well-paid gunman” to resolve the situation. He will remain free under judicial supervision and must report any changes in address to the court.
