Nocera Inferiore hospital faces complaint over misdiagnosed fracture

A 63-year-old woman from Scafati has filed a formal complaint against the Umberto I Hospital in Nocera Inferiore following a medical error. The patient reported to the emergency room with severe foot pain but was discharged after a seven-hour wait with a diagnosis of a sprain, as an initial X-ray failed to detect a fracture.

Upon returning for a scheduled follow-up, the patient encountered difficulties finding an available physician. Subsequent medical examinations, including a CT scan, revealed a multi-fragmentary fracture in her foot. The patient, who reportedly walked for several days with the undetected injury, is now seeking a judicial investigation to determine if criminal negligence occurred during her initial treatment.
