Nocera Inferiore Police Station faces urgent sanitation and structural crisis

The COISP union has issued an urgent warning regarding the deteriorating structural, hygienic, and environmental conditions at the Nocera Inferiore Police Station in Salerno. The union reports that despite repeated requests, no concrete interventions have been made to address critical issues.

Key problems include obsolete and non-functional air conditioning systems, water leaks, and broken access gates. The union highlighted a recent incident where the Complaints Office had to be closed because a malfunctioning air conditioner was dispersing dust into the air, causing illness among staff. Additionally, reports indicate issues with sewage systems leading to the presence of cockroaches and rodents.

COISP has requested immediate action from the Salerno Questura, including the purchase of portable air conditioners, an inspection by the State Police Health Office, extraordinary pest control, and the restoration of sanitary facilities. The union has also contacted the Prefect of Salerno to urge the Nocera Inferiore Municipality, the owner of the building, to take responsibility. These measures are considered particularly urgent due to the imminent arrival of 14 new police officers to the station.
