Nocera Superiore administration collapses following mayor's resignation

The municipality of Nocera Superiore has entered a phase of commissionership following the resignation of Mayor Gennaro D’Acunzi on October 12. The political crisis has intensified as the entire municipal council has resigned, effectively dissolving the local government.

Among those stepping down is Deputy Mayor Antonietta Battipaglia, who submitted a formal resignation addressed to the Mayor, the General Secretary, and the Prefect of Salerno, Francesco Esposito. In her official letter, Battipaglia cited the fiduciary nature of her appointment, stating that her decision was a direct consequence of the Mayor's resignation. She noted that she waited to complete urgent administrative tasks to ensure continuity and protect the interests of the citizens before finalizing her departure.
