Noche Suprema event postponed following violence in Hermosillo

Organizers of the Noche Suprema event have indefinitely postponed the boxing and entertainment show originally scheduled for August 29 in Hermosillo, Sonora. The decision follows a violent incident on August 28 at the Centro de Usos Múltiples (CUM), where armed individuals entered the venue during pre-show preparations, fired shots, and set fire to the boxing ring.

While no injuries or deaths were reported, the attack caused significant material damage. The event, which was intended to combine professional boxing, content creator fights, and musical entertainment, was suspended before the public arrived. Organizers stated that the project is not canceled but remains on hold until safety conditions are met, noting the impact on the hundreds of athletes, artists, and providers involved.

The Sonora State Attorney General's Office is investigating the incident. One working hypothesis suggests the violence stems from a dispute between two drug trafficking groups, though authorities have ruled out extortion attempts at this stage. Additionally, the Prosecutor's Office reported that some individuals on the event's roster have active police records or outstanding arrest warrants for unrelated matters.
