NOC*NSF Athletes Commission appoints new co‑chairs Josine Koning and Tim Verbeek

The Athletes Commission of the Dutch Olympic Committee (NOC*NSF) will be led by a new duo of co‑chairs, goalkeeper Josine Koning and bridge player Tim Verbeek, effective 1 January 2026. They replace Inge Janssen, who has chaired the commission since 2018 and automatically sat on the NOC*NSF board. Koning, an Olympic champion in field hockey and multiple national and European title holder, also holds a master’s degree in law from Utrecht. Verbeek, a six‑time master‑class bridge champion and Champions Cup winner, studied political science and has experience in both the Athletes Commission and the Bridge Federation’s board. The commission also nominated Olympic open‑water swimming champion Ferry Weertman as a candidate for the NOC*NSF supervisory board, fulfilling the IOC requirement for athlete representation at the highest level. Janssen praised the transition, stating, “I am extremely happy that Josine and Tim will take over; they are active athletes and will bring the athletes’ voice closer to the organisation.”
