Noel Gallagher's guitar sells for £12,000 at auction
A blue Epiphone guitar formerly owned by Oasis musician Noel Gallagher sold for £12,000 at an auction in Worcestershire. The 1997 instrument, featuring Manchester City colors, is believed to be one of only five identical guitars gifted to Gallagher by the manufacturer. The guitar was part of a collection belonging to Hugh Richards, a sound engineer who worked with Oasis, and was auctioned by his son following his death.
Other Oasis-related memorabilia also found buyers, including a set of 11 framed platinum discs for the album “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” which sold for £2,000, and a Kangol raincoat used by the band's touring crew for the same price. Additional items sold included tour schedules, promotional materials, a watch from the “Be Here Now” era, a concert ticket for the band The Rain (£2,400), an early demo cassette (£3,600), a collection of old photographs (£5,400), and leather shoes belonging to Gallagher (£1,200).
A piano featured on the “Supersonic” single cover, valued between £100,000 and £150,000, failed to find a buyer. The auction took place amid legal disputes regarding a separate collection of unreleased recordings known as “The Desk Tapes,” which the band attempted to block from sale via court action.
