Noel Gallagher's Oasis acoustic guitar sets auction record
An acoustic Takamine FP460SC guitar used by Noel Gallagher during Oasis’s 1996 MTV Unplugged performance sold for £226,800 (approximately $299,376) at the Propstore Spring Music Memorabilia Live Auction. The sale sets a world record for the highest price ever achieved for an Oasis acoustic guitar.
The auction, held by the UK-based Propstore, saw significant sales from other music icons on its first day. A notebook containing handwritten lyrics and notes by Freddie Mercury from his 'Mr. Bad Guy' solo album era fetched $365,904. Additionally, a black-and-gold military-style jacket worn by Michael Jackson during his 'Dangerous' and 'HIStory' eras sold for £226,800.
Total sales for the first day of the auction reached approximately £2.5 million. The items were part of various collections, including the Reinhold Mack Collection, which features memorabilia from the producer’s partnership with Queen.
