Noel Schajris and Latin Grammy Foundation award $250,000 scholarship to Puerto Rican violinist
The Fundación Cultural Latin Grammy, with Argentine singer‑songwriter Noel Schajris as sponsor, granted the Noel Schajris Beca Prodigio 2026 scholarship worth up to $250,000. The award covers a four‑year undergraduate program at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and was given to 17‑year‑old Puerto Rican violinist Razil Rosado Figueroa.
In the same ceremony three Talent‑for‑Tuition scholarships of up to $120,000 each were presented: the Celia Cruz Legacy scholarship to saxophonist Franco Dilmé Romero, the Kany García scholarship to clarinetist Gabriela Farinas, and the Manolo Díaz scholarship to bassist David Amparo. Two Frost School of Music scholarships totaling $525,000 were also awarded to Miami‑based vocalists Lea Garza and Melissa Cruz.
Schajris discussed the scholarship during an interview about his 26‑year career with Sin Bandera, emphasizing authenticity and dedication to music as the guiding principles behind the foundation’s support for emerging talent.
