Nogat advances direct gas connection between Netherlands and Norway
Nogat, the operator of North Sea pipeline infrastructure, is advancing plans for the first direct gas connection between the Netherlands and Norway. Following a successful feasibility study, the project is entering a new phase to further define transport capacity, technical requirements, and economic aspects.
The proposed undersea pipeline would connect the Dutch Nogat system to Norwegian gas infrastructure. It is expected to have a capacity of over 4 billion cubic meters of gas per year, which would account for approximately 15 percent of the total gas demand in the Netherlands.
Because the connection point is located in German waters, the permitting process will be conducted in Germany. Stakeholders, including shareholders Energie Beheer Nederland and PGGM, intend to reach a final investment decision by the middle of next year.
