Roh Si-hwan posted to Major League Baseball by Hanwha Eagles
The Hanwha Eagles have officially requested the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) to post third baseman Roh Si-hwan for Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. Following the request, the KBO has notified MLB of Roh’s availability, initiating a 30-day negotiating window for the 25-year-old slugger.
Roh, a prominent power hitter, previously signed a record-breaking 11-year, 30.7 billion won extension with the Eagles, which included a provision allowing him to seek MLB opportunities via the posting system. If a deal is reached, the Eagles will receive a tiered posting fee based on the contract value. If no agreement is reached within the window, Roh will return to the Eagles for the 2027 season.
Potential suitors mentioned by scouts include the New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, Seattle Mariners, and Los Angeles Angels. Analysts estimate a potential contract value around $21.3 million. However, the timing of the negotiations is complicated by the upcoming expiration of the MLB collective bargaining agreement on December 1, which could lead to a lockout and a freeze on all player transactions.
