Noida International Airport conducts SAKSHAM 2026 emergency drill

Noida International Airport (NIA) conducted a full-scale crisis preparedness exercise named ‘SAKSHAM 2026’ on October 29, 2026. The drill was designed to evaluate emergency response systems and the coordination between various aviation stakeholders, government departments, and emergency responders.

Following International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) guidelines, the exercise involved multiple agencies, including IndiGo, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Uttar Pradesh Police, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).

The simulation tested several critical response areas, including emergency communication protocols, firefighting, rescue operations, traffic management, and the establishment of green corridors for medical evacuations. Airport CEO Nitu Samra stated that such exercises allow the airport to test procedures and identify necessary improvements to ensure effective coordination during actual incidents.
