Noida International Airport to be renamed Narendra Modi International Airport
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has approved a proposal to rename the Noida International Airport at Jewar to ‘Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar’. The decision aims to honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his 25 years of continuous service as a head of government.
The airport is a major greenfield aviation project located in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district, designed to serve as a critical hub for the National Capital Region (NCR) and alleviate pressure on Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Developed in partnership with Swiss operator Zurich Airport International AG, the facility's first phase involved an investment of approximately Rs 11,282 crore and has the capacity to handle 1.2 crore passengers annually.
The renaming proposal now moves to the central government and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for final clearance. Once approved, the name change will be reflected on official documentation and boarding passes.
