Noáin fireworks accident injures at least 50 people

At least 50 people were injured during the start of the patron saint festivals in Noáin, Navarra, following a fireworks accident during the 'chupinazo' ceremony. The incident occurred when several rockets ignited simultaneously on the Town Hall balcony, which was crowded with spectators.

Reports indicate that after the first two rockets were launched, sparks ignited additional rockets. Some exploded in the plaza among the crowd, while others detonated on the balcony. Injuries include burns and ear pain, with most cases classified as minor. However, at least three individuals were transported to the Hospital Universitario de Navarra with more significant injuries, including a municipal employee and a photographer.

Emergency services, including ambulances and firefighters, responded to the scene. The Town Hall's plenary hall was used as a provisional medical station to assist the injured. The Guardia Civil has secured the perimeter and begun taking witness statements to investigate the cause of the accidental ignition.
