Noise-canceling fences offer solutions for external sound reduction
Noise-canceling fences serve as a solution for reducing external sounds from traffic, railways, or neighbors in residential areas. These structures function through two primary methods: sound insulation, which blocks sound waves, and sound absorption, which captures vibrations.
Several types of fencing are available depending on the environment and desired effect. Concrete walls are highly effective for urban sound insulation against road noise, while gabion walls—stones encased in metal cages—provide an aesthetic yet high-performance option. Wood fencing can assist with sound absorption if properly designed, and acoustic foam fences offer a lightweight, modular, or temporary solution. The effectiveness of these structures is largely determined by material density; heavier materials like concrete are preferred for blocking sound, whereas porous materials are used for absorption.
