Noisy-le-Grand launches rooftop urban farm

In Noisy-le-Grand, a new urban farming initiative called ‘Ma Salade à Toit’ has launched on the 5,000 square meter rooftop of a shopping center. Eschewing high-tech systems, the farm utilizes traditional methods, planting vegetables like tomatoes and leeks in soil and fruit trees in planters.

The project, which cost 1.5 million euros in investment supported by local authorities and loans, aims to create a link between urban and rural environments. The farm employs eight people and features an on-site wooden restaurant that serves meals prepared with the farm's own produce, offering an alternative to fast food for local office workers.
