Nokia launches Cognitive Operations AI platform for industrial use

Nokia has launched Cognitive Operations (CO), an artificial intelligence platform designed for industries requiring mission-critical communications, such as mining, construction, and public safety. The platform integrates AI, edge computing, and advanced networking to provide real-time video analytics, predictive maintenance, autonomous safety monitoring, and live 3D digital twins of operations.

The system is supported by Nokia’s Cognitive Edge Node (CEN), which utilizes GPU-accelerated computing to enhance intelligence in remote locations and field-deployed vehicles. Through a collaboration with Rajant, the platform integrates InstaMesh technology to create a resilient wireless network fabric without single points of failure.

For the mining sector, the CO platform is available via on-premises deployment or through the Microsoft Azure marketplace. Additionally, the platform includes applications for emergency services, utilizing a ‘Vehicle as a Node’ concept to allow response vehicles to function as autonomous intelligence and communication nodes.
