Nokia reports strong Q3 earnings driven by AI and cloud demand
Nokia has reported third-quarter financial results that exceeded analyst expectations, fueled by a surge in demand for artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure. The Finnish telecommunications company saw net sales rise 10% year-over-year to €5.15 billion. Notably, sales to AI and cloud customers jumped 123%, with new orders in this segment reaching €1.5 billion.
Comparable operating profit rose 35% to €605 million, significantly outperforming the consensus forecast of approximately €453 million. Growth was primarily driven by the Network Infrastructure segment, specifically through a 43% increase in IP Networks and an 18% rise in Optical Networks. While the company reported a decline in reported operating profit due to restructuring and integration costs, the comparable operating margin improved to 11.7%.
CEO Justin Hotard emphasized the company's strategic shift toward data center networking and AI-native infrastructure. Nokia also noted progress on its Infinera acquisition, which is expected to be completed ahead of schedule by the end of 2026. Despite the strong quarterly performance, Nokia's full-year comparable operating profit guidance remains unchanged at €2.1 billion to €2.6 billion.
