Nokian Tyres unveils Wetproof 2 premium summer tire

Nokian Tyres has introduced the Wetproof 2, a premium summer tire designed for mid-range vehicles in Central and Southern Europe. As the successor to the Wetproof 1, this new model is part of the company’s 2027 summer strategy and is engineered to support traditional, hybrid, and electric vehicles.

Developed to handle variable summer weather, the tire emphasizes wet grip, driving stability, and predictable steering response. According to Jouko Ilomäki, head of development at Nokian Tyres, the tread design and compound have been optimized to improve adhesion on wet surfaces while reducing localized wear through more uniform mass distribution. The design also aims to lower rolling resistance and minimize external noise for a quieter driving experience.

The Wetproof 2 range includes twelve sizes ranging from 15 to 16 inches, featuring H, V, and W speed ratings. These dimensions are intended to cover the most common family vehicles and models in the target regions. On European tire labels, the models achieve an ‘A’ rating for wet grip, with rolling resistance ranging from ‘B’ to ‘C’ and external noise ratings between ‘A’ and ‘B’ depending on the specific size.
