Nola authorities shut down illegal funeral agencies

Carabinieri investigators in Nola have uncovered illegal funeral service operations involving two agencies. During a series of inspections coordinated by judicial authorities and the Prefecture, officials discovered that one agency was using spaces formally designated as a garage to house corpses and receive grieving families without the necessary municipal authorizations or required hygienic-sanitary standards.

A second agency, while authorized to conduct funeral services, was found to be operating an unauthorized wake room within its premises.

The operation resulted in the reporting of three entrepreneurs, aged 46, 51, and 61, and the imposition of administrative sanctions totaling 10,000 euros. Both businesses involved have been ordered to close immediately. Authorities indicated that further inspections will continue in the Nola and Vesuvian areas.
