Nola Tribunal cleaning contract workers suspended over attendance issues

Eight long‑senior cleaning and handling staff at the Tribunal of Nola were suspended after the contractor, Romeo Gestioni S.p.A., retroactively fined them for alleged irregularities in clock‑in records covering more than a year. The union USB Lavoro Privato criticised the use of informal orders via WhatsApp, the lack of clear guidance on shift schedules and the failure to provide functional time‑recording equipment, noting that the company had not supplied any tools for 16 months.

USB has called on the Ministry of Justice, the contract’s client, and the Court of Appeal of Naples to intervene, asserting that worker protection in public contracts cannot be left to the contractor’s discretion. The union announced a 24‑hour strike for May 26 and plans to bring the case before the Naples Labour Inspectorate.
