Nollywood Actors Face Allegations of Ritual Abuse and Coup Plot

Former Actors Guild of Nigeria chairman Stanley Amandi has been linked to an alleged scheme to mobilise public support in Nigeria’s South‑East for a military takeover of President Bola Tinubu’s government. According to investigators, Amandi was tasked with propaganda and social‑media messaging for the plot and described meetings with a soldier that led to discussions of the coup. The allegations are part of ongoing treason‑related trials, though no charges have been confirmed.

Both actors say the incidents expose serious security and governance concerns within Nigeria’s film industry and broader political landscape.
