Nomad Foods to close Irida factory in Daruvar
Nomad Foods, the European frozen food giant that acquired Ledo in 2021, has announced the closure of the Irida factory in Daruvar, Croatia. The facility is expected to cease operations by the end of this year, resulting in the loss of 150 jobs.
The decision follows a business analysis and unsuccessful attempts to find a long-term sustainable solution for the plant. The Irida factory specializes in the processing and packaging of certain frozen fish and seafood products for Nomad Foods brands, accounting for less than five percent of the group's total fish product production.
Nomad Foods stated that the closure is part of a broader productivity and optimization program announced in 2025. While the plant is closing, the company maintains that product availability in Croatia and the surrounding region will not be affected, as supply will be managed through its existing European production and distribution networks.
Eduardo Bachiega, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Nomad Foods, acknowledged the difficulty of the news and stated that the company's priority is to maintain an open dialogue with employees and their representatives during the coming weeks.
