Nomura’s Laser Digital invests in ZIGChain’s ZIG token with multi‑million backing
Laser Digital, the crypto subsidiary of Japan’s Nomura Holdings, announced a high single‑digit‑million‑dollar investment in the ZIG token of blockchain platform ZIGChain. The partnership also assigns Laser Digital to structure and oversee risk for a pipeline of on‑chain private‑credit products, including SME financing, invoice factoring and stable‑coin‑backed instruments, with an initial target of at least $100 million in total value locked.
The first product, under the ZIG Markets brand, is slated for launch within months and will allow institutional investors to tokenise private‑credit deals on the ZIGChain Layer‑1 network. At the time of the announcement, ZIG traded around ¥6.4 per token, giving it a market capitalisation of roughly ¥9 billion. Laser Digital, operating since 2022, holds regulatory approvals in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and has a conditional U.S. trust‑bank licence, positioning it to bridge traditional finance and on‑chain assets.
The deal signals one of Asia’s largest financial institutions backing a real‑world‑asset tokenisation project, aiming to double ZIGChain’s current TVL and expand its distribution through Nomura’s global relationships.
