Non-Black artists with lasting influence on Black music fans

Several non-Black musical artists have maintained a significant and lasting influence within Black music communities. Artists such as Teena Marie, known for her blend of rock, jazz, soul, and R&B, and Bobby Caldwell, recognized for the smooth jazz hit ‘What You Won’t Do For Love’, are noted for their enduring popularity.

Other influential figures include Michael McDonald, whose work with the Doobie Brothers and as a solo artist has provided numerous hip-hop samples, and Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, whose crossover success remains a staple in many musical rotations.
