Noni and cherries praised for anti‑inflammatory, anti‑cancer effects
The tropical noni fruit, native to Asia and Australia, contains the compound damnacanthal, which research links to anti‑cancer activity, and iridoids with antibacterial and antifungal properties. Its high potassium content supports the nervous system, may lower LDL cholesterol, and promotes cardiovascular health. Although long used in Asian diets, noni has only recently become available in Europe and remains little known in Poland.
Summer cherries, especially the Montmorency variety, are rich in polyphenols and anthocyanins that act as antioxidants and reduce chronic inflammation. Dietitians note that cherry juice can aid muscle recovery after intense exercise, lessen joint pain, and lower markers such as C‑reactive protein. The fruit also provides natural melatonin, which has been shown in small studies to extend sleep duration and improve sleep quality in older adults. Both fruits are promoted as dietary options to support overall health and reduce inflammation‑related disease risk.
