Noord-Brabant and Limburg municipalities launch consumer behavior study

Municipalities in the Noord-Brabant and Limburg regions, including Deurne and Heusden, have launched the ‘Koopstromenonderzoek 2026’ to study the shopping and dining habits of local residents. The research aims to map where people buy groceries, shop, and visit hospitality venues to help local governments and entrepreneurs create more attractive town centers.

The study addresses the ongoing shift toward online shopping and the resulting challenges for physical retail areas. By analyzing how consumer behavior has evolved compared to previous years, such as the 2021 study, officials hope to ensure a varied and appealing selection of shops and services.

Selected households will receive invitations to participate via mail in September and October. Residents who do not receive an invitation can still participate through designated online questionnaires. To encourage participation, 100 gift cards of 25 euros each will be raffled among participants. The research is being conducted by Ipsos I&O and Movares, with data processed according to privacy regulations.
