Norberto Jesús Rodríguez appointed Regional 05 Education Director

The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) has appointed Norberto Jesús Rodríguez Rivera as the new director of Regional 05 of Education, based in San Pedro de Macorís. This change was formalized through Departmental Order No. 22/2026, signed by Minister Luis Miguel De Camps García.

Rodríguez Rivera succeeds Franklin Jonathan Villanueva Heredia. According to the official order, Villanueva Heredia will remain within the same regional structure, transitioning to the role of teaching technician. The appointment was made under the legal authority granted by the General Law of Education No. 66-97 and Decree No. 645-12.

A formal inauguration ceremony is expected to take place in San Pedro de Macorís in the coming days to begin the administrative transition. Unofficial reports suggest the leadership change may have been influenced by local political interests seeking a native representative for the position.
