Norcross man sentenced to life for fatal shooting in Georgia
Elberto Garcia-Bailon, 22, of Norcross, has been sentenced to life in prison plus five years following his conviction for the July 2024 killing of 38-year-old Gerardo Reyes-Fentanes. A Gwinnett County jury found Garcia-Bailon guilty of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Prosecutors described the incident as an ‘assassination-style’ shooting. Surveillance footage presented during the trial showed Garcia-Bailon and Reyes-Fentanes leaving a Shell gas station on Jimmy Carter Boulevard and walking toward a wooded area. The video captured Garcia-Bailon shooting Reyes-Fentanes six times, including two shots to the face while the victim lay on the ground.
Following the shooting, Garcia-Bailon reportedly confessed to a family member that he had killed someone. After approximately two and a half hours of deliberation, the jury returned a guilty verdict on all charges.
