NORD DRIVESYSTEMS has introduced NXD tupH, a food-safe surface protection designed specifically for aluminium housings. This treatment is intended for use in hygiene-sensitive sectors, such as the food and beverage and primary packaging industries.

The technology provides aluminium with hygiene and corrosion resistance properties comparable to stainless steel. By utilizing a special surface treatment combined with a high-performance sealer, the resulting non-porous surface can withstand extensive cleaning procedures without flaking or corroding. Long-term testing has confirmed its chemical resistance, including against Ecolab cleaning agents.

NORD DRIVESYSTEMS states that the NXD tupH components—which include gear units, smooth motors, and decentralised frequency inverters—comply with food-safety requirements from the FDA, EU, Switzerland, and MERCOSUR states. The use of aluminium housings offers a lightweight, compact, and heat-dissipating alternative to traditional stainless steel drives.
