Nordenham Teen Injured by Railway Overhead Line

A 15‑year‑old boy and a 12‑year‑old friend climbed onto a stationary tank wagon on railway tracks near Nordenham, Germany, to shorten their route to a nearby beach. While on the wagon the older teen touched a high‑voltage overhead line, receiving a severe electric shock, heavy burns and falling onto the track.

Rescue crews could reach him only after the power was switched off. He was air‑lifted by a rescue helicopter to a specialized clinic in Hamburg. The younger companion suffered a shock and, together with the teenagers' parents, received psychosocial emergency care. Police confined onlookers, temporarily closed the line between Nordenham and Kleinensiel, and reopened it later in the evening.
