Nordex Group expands wind energy manufacturing in Turkey
Nordex Group, the Germany-based wind energy company, is significantly expanding its industrial footprint in Turkey. The company’s new blade factory in Menemen, scheduled to begin production in May 2026, is already fully booked with orders through the first half of 2028.
In addition to the Menemen facility, Nordex is making a 70 million Euro investment in Aliağa. The company has positioned Turkey as its second-largest market after Germany, with installed wind capacity exceeding 5.5 GW. Currently, Nordex turbines account for approximately one-third of Turkey’s operational wind capacity and 60% of projects under construction.
Local production rates for turbines in Turkey have reached between 55% and 65%, supported by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources’ YEKA local content requirements. This regulatory environment has fostered a supply chain ecosystem involving approximately 300 companies. Nordex has already sourced 1.1 billion Euros worth of components from Turkish suppliers.
