Nordhausen cigarette machine destroyed in explosion

In the early hours of Saturday morning, unknown perpetrators detonated an explosive device inside a cigarette vending machine in Nordhausen, Germany. The incident occurred around 03:35 at the intersection of Schillerstraße and Förstemannstraße.

The explosion completely destroyed the machine and sent debris flying, which damaged a nearby parked vehicle. Despite the destruction, the perpetrators failed to obtain any cash, as the machine was designed exclusively for cashless payments. The suspects fled the scene with only an unspecified quantity of cigarette packs.

Total property damage is estimated to be several thousand euros. The Nordhausen Criminal Police have launched an investigation and are requesting that any witnesses who observed suspicious persons or vehicles in the area contact the authorities.
