Nordhessen corporate insolvencies drop while Germany hits record high
In the first half of 2026, Nordhessen registered 103 corporate insolvencies, a 29 % decline from the 146 cases recorded a year earlier. The reduction was seen across most cities and districts, with notable decreases in Kassel, Waldeck‑Frankenberg, Werra‑Meißner, and Hersfeld‑Rotenburg. Only the Schwalm‑Eder district posted a slight rise, from 15 to 16 cases.
The regional trend contrasts sharply with the national picture: Germany as a whole reported 12,900 corporate insolvencies in the same period, up 7.8 % and marking the highest first‑half figure since 2013. The data were provided by Creditreform Kassel/Fulda.
