Nordic Council Film Prize announces 2026 nominees

The nominees for the 2026 Nordic Council Film Prize have been announced. This year, 21 filmmakers across six films are competing for the award, which is shared among the winning director, screenwriter, and producer.

The nominees represent the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. The films include ‘Birita’ from the Faroe Islands, ‘The Love That Remains’ from Iceland, ‘Sentimental Value’ from Norway, ‘Kevlarsjäl’ from Sweden, ‘Jossain on valo joka ei sammu’ from Finland, and ‘Beginnings’ from Denmark.

The prize, valued at 300,000 Danish kroner (approximately €40,000), will be presented in Helsinki this October alongside other Nordic Council awards.
