Nordic Exposure festival to debut in Bucharest

The inaugural Nordic Exposure festival is scheduled to take place in Bucharest from September 16 to 20, 2026. The event is dedicated to Nordic literature translated into Romanian, aiming to create a space for dialogue between contemporary Nordic authors, translators, editors, and readers.

The festival features two main sections: Nordic Special and Nordic Forum. Nordic Special focuses on using literature to spark conversations about contemporary society, including discussions on themes such as identity, history, and the concept of hygge. The Nordic Forum serves as a networking platform for professionals within the Romanian book industry and the Nordic literary community.

Key scheduled events include a discussion by Finnish author Sofi Oksanen regarding post-communist European identities, a roundtable discussion involving sociologists and architects regarding Scandinavian design in urban Bucharest, and a session with Annette Bjergfeldt focused on the reading experience.
