Nordkirchen school expansion faces rising costs

The administration of Nordkirchen is preparing to present details regarding cost increases for the expansion of the Johann-Conrad-Schlaun-Gesamtschule. The project, which aims to add twelve classrooms for upper-level students, is currently underway on the school campus following a change in plans.

Originally, the expansion was intended for the Hotel-Quartier area, but the project was decoupled from those plans after the state of North Rhine-Westphalia withdrew from the overall planning. Construction began in the autumn of 2025, with completion scheduled for late February 2027.

According to municipal administration documents, additional costs have already arisen due to on-site conditions and necessary measures required when connecting the new building to the existing structure.
