Nordre Follo municipality tests digital home nursing visits

Nordre Follo municipality has been testing digital home visits within its home nursing services since the beginning of the year. The initiative aims to supplement existing physical care with digital follow-ups, allowing patients to manage their daily lives more independently while providing a strategic way to meet future healthcare demands.

Project leader Wenche Arnessen emphasizes that these digital visits are intended to bolster a sense of mastery for patients rather than replacing human contact. Many users utilize a combined service model, receiving digital monitoring during the day and physical nursing care during evenings and weekends.

Broader discussions in the Norwegian public service sector highlight a shift toward digital first-line services, including AI assistants for health inquiries and tools for self-management. These advancements are viewed as essential for relieving pressure on the healthcare system and increasing patient responsibility.
