Norfolk council approves conversion of agricultural barns into seven homes

Plans have been approved to convert four agricultural buildings at Beech Farm in Skeyton, Norfolk, into seven residential dwellings. The project, proposed by R W Randell and Sons, will transform former farming structures used for machinery storage into three two-storey homes and four single-storey homes.

The development faced initial objections from North Norfolk District Council’s Environmental Health department regarding potential noise and odour issues from remaining farm activities. Additionally, landscape experts raised concerns that large expanses of glazing could cause light spill and negatively impact the rural character and dark night skies of the area. The council has imposed several conditions on the development to mitigate these impacts.
