Norfolk police face two-thirds increase in corruption allegations

Corruption and abuse of position allegations against the Norfolk Constabulary rose by two-thirds during the 2025/26 period, according to figures from the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The number of allegations in this category increased from 24 to 40, a figure higher than the average of 25 recorded by comparable police forces such as Devon and Cornwall Police and Suffolk Constabulary.

Total complaints against the force rose from 385 to 564 over the same period, generating 1,498 allegations against officers, staff, or the organization. Other misconduct categories also saw increases: behaviour-related complaints rose to 280 from 215, allegations of unfairness and lack of impartiality increased from 38 to 69, and reports of unprofessional attitudes rose from 35 to 56.

A spokesperson for the Norfolk Constabulary noted that the increase in the abuse of position and corruption category represents allegations rather than proven cases of corruption.
