Norfolk police officer found guilty of gross misconduct

A disciplinary panel has found former Norfolk police officer Ian Raywood guilty of gross misconduct. The hearing revealed that Raywood repeatedly visited a woman’s home in King’s Lynn while on duty between January and May 2025.

Evidence presented at the Wymondham Police headquarters indicated that Raywood, who previously served with the Ministry of Defence police for 23 years, attended the residence up to nine times in uniform and using a police vehicle. During these encounters, he reportedly exchanged explicit messages, pictures, and videos via WhatsApp and continued to monitor his police radio.

Assistant Chief Officer Nick Davison stated that the officer was engaging in sexual activity for personal gratification while being paid by the public and expected to be available for service calls. The panel concluded that had Raywood still been a serving officer, he would have been dismissed without notice.
