Norfund invests USD 100 million in AMPIN Energy Transition

Norfund, the Norwegian government-owned development finance institution, has invested USD 100 million in renewable energy transition company AMPIN Energy Transition. The investment, made through the Norwegian Climate Investment Fund, is intended to support AMPIN’s growth in utility-scale and commercial & industrial renewable energy projects, as well as its energy transition value chain business.

This capital injection brings AMPIN’s total equity capital raised to nearly USD 1 billion, facilitating a planned capital deployment of over USD 4 billion.

In a separate context, Norfund’s new CEO, Erik Sandersen, highlighted the institution's unique position. Unlike many European peers, Norfund is 100% financed by the Norwegian government, providing it with greater flexibility to manage an equity-dominated portfolio of NOK 45.5bn (€4.2bn) and take a long-term perspective on risk and impact investing.
