Norge Rundt cat selected for commemorative postage stamp

The cat from the iconic 'Norge Rundt' television vignette has been selected by viewers to be the subject of a commemorative postage stamp. The stamp marks the 50th anniversary of the popular NRK program, which premiered on October 2, 1976.

Viewers voted on three different candidate motifs, with the cat securing an overwhelming victory. Roar Toresen, stamp director at Posten Bring, noted that the selection serves as a tribute to both the program and the generations of viewers who have followed it.

The production process was documented throughout the anniversary year, following the journey from the Stamp Service offices in Oslo to the printing facility in Haarlem, Netherlands. The stamp, titled ‘Katten i treet’, is scheduled for release on October 2, 2026.
