Norma Burgos appointed Secretary of the Governor's Office in Puerto Rico

Governor Jenniffer González Colón has appointed Norma E. Burgos Andújar as the new Secretary of the Governor's Office. In this role, Burgos will be responsible for strengthening coordination between government agencies and ensuring the administration's priorities are met. The Governor cited Burgos's extensive experience in the executive and legislative branches, including her previous tenure as Secretary of State, as key factors in the decision.

The appointment has drawn criticism from political representative Ramón Torres, who described the selection as a “disaster” that reflects limited options for finding talent. Torres raised concerns regarding Burgos's past political controversies and noted that she has been living outside of Puerto Rico. Conversely, Senator Juan Oscar Morales acknowledged her experience and capacity but urged her to maintain open communication with the legislative branch to avoid the friction seen in previous administrations.
